The 2006 Westside CubsThe 2006 Edition Westside Cubs had a great year. We won some, lost some, but most of all we had fun. It is very satisfying to see parents and players at football games/practice in September or at the Mall in December and all they seem to look forward to is Spring baseball. It tells us we are on the right track. Youth Athletics is supposed to be about the "fun" and learning. When it becomes too serious, at this age, the innocence and true meaning is lost. Logan recently had an invitation to play on a World Champion Dizzy Dean "select" team to pitch and play first base. We thought about it for about 2 minutes and declined. Playing 10 tournament games all over the South every weekend and practicing 3-4 times per week did not sound like "fun". We asked Logan if he wanted to play for this "select" team and his question was "does this mean I won't get to play with all my friends on the Cubs?" This is the essence of what the Westside Cubs is about. These boys will be friends for life and the longer they play together, the closer these friendships will become. We have saved all the stats from the 2006 season under this section, should any player or parent want to 'relive" the 2006 season. We will try to add each season under its own tab.
