Dakota Ware played for the Cubs two years ago during Tee ball.  Dakota did not play baseball last year, but we are very pleased to have him back. We are certain he will continue to grow and catch up with players who have played baseball every year, the longer he plays.  He has caught several pop fly's which are among the most difficult skills to develop at this age.

Dakota shares time in right field, which is among the most important outfield positions. At this age (and with our pitchers), more balls are hit to the right side of the infield/outfield than any other area.  The right fielder needs to be able to get to the ball quickly, field it, and get it back to the infield quickly.  A good right fielder can mean the difference between winning and losing.  Since more balls are hit to right field, the right fielder needs to be dependable.

At the plate Dakota has a beautiful swing, but he needs to swing the bat with more authority (harder). He makes good contact, but he often hits the ball to the right side. As he develops this year, and begins to swing with more authority, he will become a very difficult out.

In a recent game, Dakota was moved to left field and he may have saved the game for us when he quickly fielded the ball cleanly, and came up throwing to the infield to keep the runners from advancing.  At this age, the ability of the outfielders to do this can mean the difference between winning and losing.
